Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why should my daughter join Alpha Chi?
Scholarship
Alpha Chi Omega is committed to the academic progress and achievement of all its members. Our VP Intellectual Development crafts many events and programs to provide academic opportunities through study hours, tutoring, recognition for achievement and career advising from alumnae.
Sisterhood
Forming lasting friendships is an integral part of your daughter’s college experience. As a member, she will be able to bond with more than seventy other women who have a variety of majors, interests and are involved in numerous activities on campus. Alpha Chi encourages its members to be themselves and feels that each woman can contribute something different, but equally important, to our sorority. We take our role as sisters very seriously so that each member always feels welcome and will never be without someone who can help her whenever she needs it. Ultimately, Alpha Chi provides opportunities for lifetime friendships with real, strong women who are making a difference for themselves, their fellow sisters and the world around them.
Leadership
Membership in Alpha Chi Omega offers women a variety of opportunities to develop their confidence and leadership skills. Our chapter has an executive board of 13 women and over 20 cabinet positions. Our new members are allowed to run for cabinet positions a few weeks after joining. This is unique to our chapter and allows our members to feel connected and empowered quickly. They are able to make an impact immediately. In addition, our sisters are involved in leadership positions in numerous activities on campus such as Rockethon... Alpha Chi will allow your daughter to be a part of an organization where she can be herself, where she can learn how to make the most of her life, where she can realize her greatest potential in her own way.
Service
Alpha Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention. We support the continuing fight against domestic violence by holding fundraisers and other events throughout the year to raise money to support this cause. We host a semi- annual philanthropy dinner, Nacho Night, every semester with proceeds benefitting the local Beach House shelter for domestic violence. In addition, we believe it is important to educate the greater UT community about domestic violence prevention on college campuses. Alpha Chi also participates in other Northwestern campus wide philanthropy events such as Rockethon, Relay for Life and the ALS Walk. Our dedication to community service one of the most important aspect of our sorority.
2. What do the dues cover?

Our members pay dues each quarter that go toward Alpha Chi Omega headquarters, University of Toledo PHA and our chapter budget. Our dues allow our chapter to function and cover many events and items including chapter meals, subsidized sisterhood events and formals, educational programming and rewards and much more. Our chapter is committed to keeping dues reasonable, and we have some of the lowest dues of the 12 PHA sororities. In addition, Alpha Chi does offer payment plan options to fit the financial needs of our sisters.
3. Will my daughter be required to live in the house?

Our chapter has a one year, 2 semester, live in requirement. Living in our recently renovated house provides a unique opportunity to bond and grow with fellow sisters. The live-in members create bonding experiences that will last a lifetime. In addition, Alpha Chi housing costs are less than the average costs of University of Toledo housing.
